Core Aeration

Healthy Roots = Healthy Lawn

What is Core Aeration?

Core aeration is the process of removing small cores of earth from the soil. This provides the following benefits to your lawn:

Aeration Benefits:

  1. Increase nutrient intake: Aerating your lawn will create thousands of small holes that provide a more effective path for the nutrients to reach the roots.
  2. Thatch is broken up: Aeration will help reduce the amount of thatch accumulated on your lawn.
  3. Compaction is relieved: Aeration is the only way to reduce soil compaction. Hard compacted soil will result in pooling of water.
  4. Stronger root system: By removing small cores of earth, we allow space for the root system to grow. Deeper roots translate in a longer survival period during drought season.
  5. Free top dressing: The remaining cores left on the ground act as a top dressing, adding nutrients to your lawn.

When should I aerate my lawn?

The best time to aerate your lawn is in spring. A spring aeration allows your lawn to breathe after a season of chilly compaction. Fall is also a very good time for aerating your lawn.
