A: The seeds needs to be raked into the soil for proper seed-to-soil contact, not thrown on top. It will also help for protection against the sun, birds and water erosion. The ideal temperature for your seeds to sprout is 15 to 20C. You need to keep the soil as damp as possible.

Q: How much water or when do I have to water my newly sodded turf?

A: This will depend on the weather. The soil must be damp as possible for the first week. Under normal temperature (20-25C) you will need to water 3 times a day. You can slow down to twice a day after the first week. The important factor is not how much you water, but simply to keep the sod and soil underneath damp. You can lift up a side corner of a sod roll to inspect if the water has reached the soil below or not.

Q: When can I start to have traffic on my lawn and when can I start cutting it?

A: For the first week its important to have miminum traffic to the newly sodded lawn. Only the person watering the lawn should be allowed. After the 1st week, you can have low traffic to the lawn. You can start cutting your lawn generally after 2 weeks, or when the grass has reached 3.5" in height.
